The Fire
When the Palisades Fire began, we left our home in Malibu with a suitcase. I was five months pregnant with twins, with a three-year-old at my side.
When we arrived at the house we would move into, there were two mattresses waiting on the doorstep.
Nothing else.
Everything we owned — gone.
Everything we needed — still ahead of us.
Rebuilding wasn’t as simple as replacing what we lost.
It had to be intentional.
There was no room for excess.
No patience for waste.
The Search
So I started going — everywhere.
Estate sales. Vintage markets. Thrift stores. Facebook Marketplace.
Trying to piece together a home before the babies arrived.
What I found was overwhelming.
Too many listings.
Too much noise.
Too much that wasn’t worth the time.
Hours spent driving across the city for things that didn’t belong in our home — or weren’t there at all.
That’s when The Hunt began. Not as a business — but as a filter.
The Filter
A way to find only what was worth showing up for.
To cut through everything else.
Because not everything deserves your time. The right pieces — the ones with history, character, and purpose — are worth seeking out.
Today, The Hunt is a curated guide to vintage and estate sales from Malibu to the Hills.
We search, filter, and share only the most compelling finds.
Because when you’re building a home — or rebuilding one — what you choose matters.
The thrill, after all, is in the hunt.
